An artistic essay · 6 stages of "never enough"

Deconstructing
Expectation

A deliberate, track-by-track dissection of perfectionism, high standards, and the psychological architecture of pressure — sitting in the tension between the gift and the wound, without pretending to cure it.

0. The Premise

An honest look at the drive that shaped me.

This album comes from a real, personal place. I have a deep habit of always wanting to improve, to aim at excellence. I can be harsh on myself; I tend to hold high expectations for who I should be, and I'm often chasing something a little better than where I am.

There's a contradiction at the heart of it. On one hand, I genuinely love this part of me — it feels like the engine of much of what I value about myself. On the other, it can quietly hurt; it can keep me from ever feeling like enough in the place I'm standing right now. This record lives inside that tension, and it doesn't try to resolve it cleanly. It just sits between the gift and the wound.

There's also a colder, more analytical side to it. I tend to approach my own feelings the way I'd approach a system — something to diagnose, optimize, and fix. Part of what this album reaches toward is the slow realization that some feelings aren't meant to be fixed; some things are simply meant to be felt, and left alone.

Across six tracks, it moves through the stages of that cycle — from the cold, clinical scanning of a perfect day, through glorifying the burnout, to the moment the private war quietly spills onto the people I love; from wondering whether I'd still be me without the chase, to the emptiness at the top of everything, and finally to the choice to put the scalpel down and simply breathe.

On the Making

What's honest, and what was generated.

I want to be completely explicit about how this exists. This is an essay. The artwork was generated with AI. The music — the recordings you're listening to — was generated with AI. I also used AI as an assistant, a brainstormer, a sounding board: shaping the script of the album, helping with rhyme and structure, pushing the lines around, and even creating this website.

But the heart of it is genuine. The message, the construct, the contradiction, the arc — the why of all of it — came from a real place in me. The tools helped me shape it and say it; they didn't decide what was worth saying.

An open invitation

I'd love to make this project truly alive.

I'm not a musician, a producer, or anything like that. I lack the skill to turn this into a real, finished piece of music art on my own — and for now I rely on AI to bring it to life as a maquette: a sketch, a proof of the feeling.

But I would love to take it further. If you're a singer, musician, producer, or a group with those skills — and the concept resonates with you — I'd genuinely love to partner up and reimagine this as a real piece of music, made by human hands. The blueprint is here. The feeling is real. I'm looking for the people who can play it.
